Many consoles had a Multitap device that changed the initial 2-player-only console into a machine that could simultaneously support 3,4,5,6 and even up to 10 players!
Sega Master System, NES, Sega Mega Drive, SNES, PC-Engine / TurboGrafx, Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and the PS2 all had Multitap devices that were relatively easy to obtain and use, as well as plenty of games that utilize them!
